Every day, over 2,000 children are reported missing. In some cases, those children have fallen victim to online predators. With the advent of social networking sites, pedophiles and other sexual predators have found what they consider a safe ground from where they can observe, research, and stalk their intended victims without detection by authorities. No longer does a stranger have to physically approach a child before the child senses danger. Now, online pedophiles can learn about their targets online. Many children have been abducted by predators who knew everything about the victim’s social life. The purpose of this white paper is to document methods the HP ArcSight ESM correlation engine uses that can assist social networking sites in identifying online predators.
