Secure Instant Messaging

Instant Messaging requires the use of a client program that hooks up an instant messaging service and differs from e-mail in that conversations are then able to happen in realtime. Most services offer a presence information feature, indicating whether people on one's list of contacts are currently online and available to chat.

In the wake of the numerous server data breaches reported this year, it is clear that traditional signature-based blacklisting security strategies are inadequate in addressing today’s sophisticated cyber threats. Advanced threats are targeting servers to steal valuable corporate intellectual property. These attacks happen fast - in less than 15-20 minutes - and are bypassing traditional security tools. In this whitepaper, Industry Analyst Frost and Sullivan examines today’s advanced threat landscape and recommends that organizations adopt a new approach to server security that is based on trust.

Although the promise of reduced costs has appealed to many enterprises looking to migrate legacy network systems to virtualization, security experts warn that the move must not trump careful contemplation and scrutiny by today’s CIOs and IT leadership. Such a thorough examination must take into account the impact that virtualization will have on an organization’s overall security policy, the risk it imposes, how to mitigate such risk, how to implement access controls, and what best practices an organization can or should implement in its present IT environment. This new ebook from SC Magazine dives deep into the latest developments in the field to query several experts who lucidly explain best practices, with several use cases, and help filter out the hyperbole from the reality.

Many organizations are challenged with finding a way to secure sensitive and proprietary data in the face of shrinking budgets, overstretched staff, and limited infrastructure. The costs, complexity and resources traditionally associated with implementing and sustaining these types of programs have proven to be too great for most organizations. The ability to implement a complete data security program has been afforded only to those organizations with expansive budgets and robust security and IT resources. This whitepaper explains how this problem can be solved through the introduction of Managed Service for Information Protection (MSIP), the industry's first true managed service for information protection (MSIP) with no upfront hardware, software, or staffing costs.

The business trend towards IT "consumerization" is being driven by cost savings and employee pressure to allow the use of employee-owned mobile devices to access corporate email and attachments. Businesses are scrambling to support greater mobility, but are justifiably concerned about the potential for consumerization to put sensitive data at greater risk. A new type of mobile data protection model is needed to overlay and augment emerging mobile device management (MDM) solutions to ensure sensitive corporate data remains secure and contained on an employee's personal device, without comingling with their private data. In this datasheet you'll learn how Digital Guardian's Enterprise Information Protection (EIP) technology platform extends its data-centric security model for hosts and virtual environments to include monitoring and controlling the movement of sensitive information to employee-owned devices through the Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) and Exchange ActiveSync (EAS).
